WELSH LAWN BOWLS

2025 was another strong year for lawn bowls in Wales, with Welsh players achieving success at home and further afield. From new National Champions being crowned to medal success at the British Isles Championships, World Cup, and Hong Kong Classic, it’s been a year to be proud of.

We’d like to congratulate everyone who represented Wales and all players competing at every level across the country. Here’s hoping 2026 brings continued success, both on and off the green.

We’re also pleased to see a number of Welsh players finish 2025 inside the World Bowls Series Top 100 for both men and women. These rankings are independently managed by World Bowls and are open to all players, with points earned through performances in National Championships, open competitions worldwide, and international events.
Ross Owen has continued to set the standard in the men’s rankings, maintaining his place inside the world top ten throughout 2025. Impressive performances at the World Indoor Championships, World Cup and British Bowls Championships have underlined his consistency at the highest level.

Daniel Salmon has also spent much of the year close to the top of the rankings, with his latest medal success at the Hong Kong Classic ensuring he remains firmly inside the world top 20.

It has been a standout season for Daniel Davies Jnr, who enjoyed a year to remember. A long-standing international, Daniel claimed two National titles at Llandrindod Wells during the summer, before qualifying for the World Indoor Pairs at Potters Resort and going on to secure a Gold medal at the World Cup in Malaysia alongside Ross Owen.
In the women’s rankings, Lauren Gowen has held her place inside the world top 20, earning valuable ranking points through strong performances at the World Bowls Indoor Championships, British Isles Championships and the Welsh National Finals.
